The history of Jamaica
Jamaica , an island that soars about 480 miles south of Florida , across the Caribbean sea . Also known as the third largest island on the Caribbean sea after Cuba and Hispaniola . Jamaica is about 146 miles long and varies from 22 to 51 miles wide . Due to its landmass it is often compared to the state of Connecticut . Although the capital of Jamaica is Kingston , it has other important places and centers for trades and businesses. Their official language is English and the most common religion is Protestantism . In Jamaica , the transportation system is very efficient as it connects throughout the entire country which aids their movement . They also have a coastal highway that connects to other coasts as well . But despite all of the joys , there are some very serious human environmental interactions present .
